Disciple Releases If You Say So

SHARE NOW

Disciple has just released their brand new single, “If You Say So,” bringing back the classic Disciple sound reminiscent of their 1995 release, This Might Sting A Little.  I am sure this will make alot of old school Disciple 1.0 fan’s happy. Don’t get me wrong, I love the newer stuff from Disciple, but I also enjoy the classic sounds, as that is when I discovered Disciple at the age of 15 or so.  The song delivers a hard-hitting, powerful message inspired by Ruth 1:16-17 (NLT), where Ruth pledges her unwavering loyalty:

“But Ruth replied, ‘Don’t ask me to leave you and turn back. Wherever you go, I will go; wherever you live, I will live. Your people will be my people, and your God will be my God. Wherever you die, I will die, and there I will be buried. May the Lord punish me severely if I allow anything but death to separate us!’”

Some listeners may notice a similarity to Chris Tomlin’s I Will Follow, as both tracks express a deep commitment to following God’s lead. Here’s a look at the choruses from both songs:

Chorus for “If You Say So” by Disciple:

If You say so, I’ll go wherever You say to go
Frontline to the gallows if You say so
If You say so, I’ll go wherever You say to go
Next step to the gallows if You say so

Produced by Josiah Prince, “If You Say So” is published by Disciple Rocks Publishing (SESAC), Dive Bomb (BMI), and Smoke Monster Music (ASCAP).

Chorus for “I Will Follow” by Chris Tomlin:

Where You go, I’ll go
Where You stay, I’ll stay
When You move, I’ll move
I will follow You
Who You love, I’ll love
How You serve I’ll serve
If this life I lose, I will follow You, yeah
I will follow You, yeah

While both songs share a similar spirit of devotion, Disciple’s “If You Say So” hits harder with its rock intensity and bold delivery. This song is a battle cry to proclaim love, go out into the world and love go and heal the broken. To our death we will continue to proclaim the name of Jesus Christ.

For fans who were part of Disciple’s Tour Bus Experience last year, this song may not be entirely new—they were treated to an early demo version during the tour. True to their form, Disciple continues to share the gospel with their signature impact and energy.

Disciple’s Legacy Continues

Throughout their remarkable career that began in 1992, Disciple has released 13 studio albums, earned 18 No. 1 singles, and sold hundreds of thousands of records. Their music has been featured on ESPN’s NFL Live, WWE, Fox Sports, and in commercials for CBS hits like CSI: Miami and Criminal Minds. With multiple Dove Awards under their belt, they’ve performed thousands of shows worldwide, including a 40-arena tour in 2023 as part of Winter Jam. Most recently, Disciple premiered “If You Say So” at the Loud and Proud Festival in Wissen, Germany.

Disciple’s music blends hard rock, heavy metal, and post-grunge with lyrics that unapologetically proclaim their Christian faith. Their songs often address themes like redemption, spiritual warfare, hope, and perseverance, with many tracks rooted in scripture. Lead singer Kevin Young’s vocal style ranges from intense, gritty rock to more melodic tones, giving the band a versatile sound that appeals to both rock fans and worship music listeners.

Disciple has also never been shy about directly sharing the gospel, often praying with audiences during concerts and delivering powerful messages through their lyrics. This balance of bold faith and rock energy has been a hallmark of their career.

Currently on tour, Disciple continues to captivate audiences with their high-energy rock performances while also leading worship through their side project, Honor & Glory.
